Celebs Who Have Battled Cancer

After overcoming one bout with cancer, a former Fairfield hockey player will have his biggest fan to help in his second battle with the disease.

Charlie Capalbo, 20, was diagnosed with cancer in March 2017. The former Fairfield Co-op goalie was in remission until doctors found a second type of cancer in his spinal fluid this October.

Capalbo's father says he is getting excellent care at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.

But this time around, he will have some extra help -- his 18-year-old brother Will, who took his place as goalie.

Last month, Will learned that he is a match to be his brother's bone marrow donor.

"I'm happy that there's something physically that I can do for him instead of just being there for him I can actually be in him for him," says Will Capalbo.

Will is a 90 percent match for his brother. He will find out next week if he is a 100 percent match, and then the transplant can be done at the end of the year.

Friends are holding a charity event for the family at the end of the month.
