Mom Shaved 7 Year Old Daughter’s Head And Said She Had Cancer, Police Say. She Didn’t

A mother told her seven year-old daughter she had cancer and shaved the little girl’s head to set up an elaborate fake fundraising effort, police say.

Jamie Kaye Parker used the ruse to scam wellwishers out of $3,500, it is claimed, after her daughter complained of a tummy ache.

Parker, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, began Googling what was wrong with the girl – who Metro US has chosen not to name – then decided it was Non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

The child, who Metro US has chosen not to name, was told by her mother that she had cancer after complaining of a stomach ache – prompting her mother to search online for what might be wrong with her

The mom is said to have decided that her girl was suffering from cancer, then broke the news to the child.

She then claimed that subsequent visits to the doctors were for the girl to receive advice and support for the serious illness, it is alleged.

Parker then appears to have announced her daughter’s illness on Facebook, with friends and neighbors spending the past two years fundraising cash to help the little girl battle the disease, it is claimed.

A special Facebook page shows special T-shirts Parker printed for her fundraising ‘tribe’, which they wore to attend a candelit walk to raise awarness of the Non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

After that walk, Parker wrote on her own Facebook page: ‘To all of our friends and family we will be participating in OKC Light the Night Walk October 20th to show support for (my daughter).

‘We would love for yal to join us!’

Her alleged scam was rumbled after multiple donors complained to police that they had been conned.

Grady County Sheriff Jim Weir condemned Parker’s alleged scheme, telling KOCO: ‘To put your daughter in that state of mind that she has a disease that could kill her, that she may die in the future, in the very near future? I think that’s almost the ultimate child abuse.’

The little girl has since been told that she is not sick, with her father now caring for her.

Parker is being held on $10,000 bond on child abuse and fraud charges.

She was previously arrested in 2016 over claims she stole almost $4,000 from a local booster club while working as its treasurer.
